IBM Watson Health Unveils New Imaging AI Adoption Opportunities
At the RSNA 2021 Annual Meeting, IBM Imaging AI Orchestrator and IBM Workflow Orchestrator with Watson will be introduced. Orchestration—both of AI and of workflow—provides a new method for imaging enterprises to enhance radiologists' reading experiences while decreasing the effect on IT.
IBM Watson Health is launching a new AI orchestration product to assist imaging enterprises in reaping the advantages of having AI apps operate in unison. This week, during the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2021 Annual Meeting in Chicago, IBM Watson Health will formally debut IBM Imaging AI Orchestrator. Furthermore, IBM is introducing IBM Imaging Workflow Orchestrator with Watson, a new solution that innovates the ambience for radiologists while decreasing the expectations on IT and imaging system administrators.
'We know that it is difficult to go it alone when it comes to implementing AI in imaging,' said David Gruen, MD, MBA, FACR, Chief Medical Officer, Imaging, Watson Health. 'Because each AI application is designed differently for a specific purpose, it can be difficult for businesses to examine and appraise each one before deploying them in a way that benefits radiologists and their patients. With the increasing expansion of authorized algorithms, human shortages, and disease complexity, the IBM Imaging AI Orchestrator could not have arrived at a better moment.'
IBM Imaging AI Orchestrator is a cloud-based AI service that gives expandable access to regulations Ai technologies from top AI solution vendors that have been evaluated to fulfil stringent data security and privacy requirements. It is intended to assist radiologists in controlling their access to AI ideas within the framework of the diagnostic workflow. It displays the state of AI processing in the worklist and provides aggregated AI application results straight into the PACS. IT departments benefit from IBM's handling of several applications from various vendors. AI apps from various partners were validated for compatibility with AI Orchestrator at launch and are now accessible from IBM.
Life Image has opted to provide IBM Watson Health's AI Orchestrator to their hospital and health system clients in addition to the Watson Health Imaging solutions. Life Image, the hugest global medical evidence network that provides access to points of care and curated clinical and imaging data, has developed a digital platform that connects 13,000 facilities with more than 160,000 U.S. providers and 58,000 global clinics using industry-leading interoperability standards.
'Life Image will encourage universal, enterprise-wide access to imaging AI outcomes and imaging data in collaboration with IBM Watson Health,' stated Matthew A. Michela, President and CEO of Life Image. 'We are pleased about this cooperation and the possibility to enhance interoperability while also improving outcomes for providers, patients, and the healthcare system as a whole.'
There is a potential to modernize and enhance the clinician's expertise while reducing workflows to further assist radiology practice. IBM Imaging Workflow Orchestrator with Watson is a workflow system that combines studies, patient data, and AI findings into a single smart and contemporary interface, giving clinicians a leg up on daily reading tasks. This cloud-native SaaS, designed to support sophisticated hybrid settings, assists IT executives in improving the flow of studies by connecting imaging data and tools that operate on-premises and in the cloud, making them available to reading specialists anywhere in the company.
'These unique products are intended to provide a smarter method for health systems and radiology practises to embrace AI for diagnostic imaging and to improve the reading experience. They can assist health-care systems in providing high-quality patient care. Patients have increased confidence since AI-augmented technologies help physicians and specialists be more productive. Orchestrating AI and processes can help radiology practises increase their capacity to deliver imaging services at a faster rate to satisfy today's expanding healthcare demands 'Alok Gupta, Vice President and General Manager of IBM Watson Health Imaging, explained the company's strategy.
'We are always seeking to incorporate cutting-edge technology into our imaging environment to assist our radiologists' productivity and trust in diagnostic accuracy,' stated Randy Hicks, MD, MBA, CEO of Regional Medical Imaging in Grand Blanc, Michigan. 'In the future, AI orchestration lays a strategic basis that will allow us to grow up to employing new AI apps while remaining certain that the applications have been validated for privacy and security, reducing the strain on our IT personnel.'
